To improve the accuracy of electromagnetic (EM) indoor positioning system, there are still two challenges in the system. Firstly, the distance in real (Geometric) coordinates and EM coordinates is not linear. Secondly, the Non-linearity is varied in different regions which can result in great difficulties in proposing an error correction to integrally improve the accuracy of the EM indoor positioning system. In this paper, a correction method based on polynomial fitting is proposed to improve the accuracy of the EM indoor positioning system, which can establish an appropriate fitting relations between EM coordinates and real coordinates for received location data. The experimental results show the accuracy of the EM indoor positioning system is within 1.5cm by error correction.
