Practically, the overriding organizational concern would always be higher profitability through continuous improvements in employee productivity. But, such improvements in productivity can't be achieved overnight without focusing on employees' job satisfaction, job involvement and organizational commitment-the three. primary work related attitudes, ultimately taking care of their productivity. However, ensuring higher levels of these work attitudes requires that the organizations need to emphasize on the qualitative aspects of work life of their employees. Considering this, organizations need to strive hard to foster better Quality of Work Life (QWL) for their employees who are ultimately taking care of the glooming bottom line. This is equally true for the sweetest industry on this earth-the Sugar Industry. The present empirical paper analyzes the opinions of 150 operativeon-managerial employees of Sugar Mills regarding the constituents and perceived availability of QWL at their work places. Analysis reveals that demographic variables like age and experience of these employees show a negative correlation with QWL, while the educational level is positively associated with the perceived QWL. The study also highlights the changing expectations of these lower level employees in terms of higher order need satisfaction and suggests steps to foster better QWL for these employees; and thereby making their jobs sweeter than before.
