摘要

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), utilizing Topia Technology's Kolona Mobile Object Technology, recently demonstrated dynamic service composition within a notional environment on the System Wide Information Management (SWIM) Test Bed. A new service called "Enhanced Query Results" was composed by using data from one surveillance system to qualify data from a different, National Airspace System (NAS) surveillance system, adding two-fold value to the notional environment: 1) The Sensis Surveillance Performance Monitor (SPM) data were used to limit the on-screen display to those sensors that met a specific quality rating, and 2) Topia's conveyance concept, implemented with Kolona Mobile Objects, filtered Surveillance Data Network (SDN) sensor data based on SPM data, resulting in a new, optimized data stream. This new stream was blended on the consumer side with the SPM data for geographical display of sensor assets and flight information data. The composite service, implemented using conveyance pipelines, continuously displays and updates the real-time sensor asset health for the specific airspace segment requested by a NAS consumer. The new service lessens the human involvement required to certify surveillance asset operations and potentially reduces unnecessary expansions in flight separation caused by out-dated or otherwise inaccurate reports of sensor degradation. Topia introduced the SPM Affected Filter (SAF) at the source of the SDN Event Channel (EC), and was able to transmit only requested data using the least possible bandwidth. Other benefits of the new system include significantly more accurate renderings of surveillance asset health indications exchange. Separating asset performance data enables awareness of sensor health. This paper will describe the mobile object and conveyance architectures supporting the new service in a notional, net-centric SWIM environment, the many benefits and uses of SPM data, and provide the development efforts required by other NAS system providers to link to this service or to develop a similar SWIM service with Topia mobile objects.
