In order to accommodate actuator failures which are uncertain in time, pattern and value, the finite-time stable nonsmooth control method is applied to suppress the vibration, which overcomes the shortcomings of the traditional control method neglecting the influence of actuator. According to theory of Lyapnov stability, the designed control method is proved that can realize the stability of building structural vibration. Finally, several simulation examples are given for numerical simulation that regarding a building by the earthquake. The control effect under nonsmooth control condition is compared with a way of LQR control. The simulation results reveal that the designed control method has great seismic performance and is available for vibration control of actuator failure in building structure.
