The coil assembly constituted by two air core coils which is laid symmetrically has been designed for the plasma propulsion system, it can generate uniform magnetic field, it can restrain the plasma which spouts from the plasma generator and make the plasma blowout facing to the nozzle direction. The coil assembly constituted by two air core coils is shown in Figure 1. The coil 1 and the coil 2 is laid symmetrically about the xoy plane, the z axis passed through the axes of symmetry of two coils. Each coil inside radius is a{sub}1, the outer radius is a{sub}2, each coil length is b, the distance between two coils is 2c. The degree of homogeneity of magnetic field of this coil assembly is higher than that of the single axial symmetry coil.
