REAL-TIME KNOWLEDGE-BASED SYSTEMS FOR ENTERPRISE DECISION SUPPORT AND SYSTEMS ANALYSIS

This keynote paper explores the use of real-time knowledge-based systems (RTKBSs) for enterprise decision support as well as for systems specification and analysis. Knowledge-based systems for monitoring and decision-making in a real-time environment must meet stringent response time and logical correctness requirements. Modern enterprise information systems are requiring shorter response time and greater reliability for businesses to stay competitive. The critical nature of such decision-making systems requires that they undergo rigorous and formal analysis prior to their deployment. This paper describes how knowledge-based systems for decision support are formally analyzed. It also shows how the requirements and operations of enterprise systems can actually be modeled as a rulebase which can then be formally analyzed.
