摘要

Auxiliary power units (APUs) with solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) as a main component provide solution for high efficient and low emission energy system of tomorrow. Feeding SOFCs with conventional or alternative carbon-containing fuels brings risk of carbon formation and its deposition on the porous Ni-YSZ anode. Carbon deposition is one of the major degradation sources which reduce the cell activity, cause an irreversible cell degradation and can significantly decrease the cell's lifetime. In order to prolong the cell's lifetime and to ensure the undisturbed operation of SOFCs, an in-depth understanding of this degradation phenomenon is required. For that purpose, experimental and numerical investigations were performed within this study.
