Emerging Device-to-Device (D2D) communications where devices are involved in a direct communication, will be of a huge importance in future telecommunication networks. This new communication paradigm will improve the energy efficiency, latency, throughput, reduce the bit error rate, etc. Of course, such a feature requires to implement self-organizing capability onto the devices. Accordingly, our study focuses on how to reduce energy wastage due to interference during a cellular-D2D uplink communication, through modeling this communication as a quitting game and deriving the pure and mixed equilibria. From a numerical investigation, we illustrate some insightful results on how to use this game in order to improve energy efficiency in a fully distributed fashion.
