摘要

A new concept in the hybrid wheel is proposed. Using the new hybrid wheel, all electric trains can be installed with this innovation, and the trains will not be restricted to the tarmac road or to the rail track. The concept also solves one of the main complications in rail track construction because it removes the need to build rail tracks in places, especially in cities, where the infrastructures underneath the roads are embedded with all sorts of utility and communication networks. The proposed development is based on a worm-gear and linear actuation that allows for a smooth transition between the metal and rubber wheels. With this design, a train can travel on any road surfaces with a smooth non-stop transition. The development greatly reduces the construction cost and makes hybrid rail and road possible in smart cities.
