Optofluidic waveguides in hydrophobic aerogels formed by femtosecond laser ablation

We investigate formation of micro-channels inside hydrophobic silica aerogels, through femtosecond laser ablation. We also fill the channels with liquids, demonstrate optical guiding and characterize waveguide losses.
