Mining Company Competitor/ Collaborator Network from Online News for Competitive Intelligence

To gain sustainable competitiveness in an unstable and turbulent business environment, companies need to adapt to their environments and develop competitive intelligence that helps managers make crucial business decisions. Automatic discovery of competitors and collaborators represents a critical and essential task of competitive intelligence. This study proposes an approach that incorporates the state-of-the-art text mining and natural language processing techniques to effectively discover competitors and collaborators of a focal company from online news. Empirical evaluation results are promising.
