摘要

We investigate the influence of the back texture of a microcrystalline thin-film silicon solar cell onlight scattering and performance by both experiment and simulation. Investigations were performed on bothnormally fabricated solar cells and solar cells with a polished front side to eliminate scattering at the front interface.The interfaces at both sides of the silicon nip-structure were measured by atomic force microscopy and incorporatedin optical simulation. By taking into account the real three-dimensional structure of the device, we can investigatelocal effects within every layer of the solar cell. Our investigations show that the back texture is dominant for lightscattering in the long wavelength range, where light path enhancement is necessary to obtain good absorption rates inthe silicon.
