By applying the scalable VLP production and purification methods, the further biomedical applications from the generated AAV2-VLPs will be easily amplified to human trial scale in future. Characterization of the VLPs by TEM, western blot and zeta potential analyzer revealed that the generated AAV2-VLPs have similar structure compared to wildtype AAV2, therefore, it was expected the AAV2-VLPs produced by the insect cells/BEV system could retain infectivity and tissue tropism of wildtype AAV2, thus the AAV2-VLPs are promising biomaterial for further development for delivery of smal drugs, siRNA or other applications.
