A MICROSIMULATION-BASED TESTBED FOR PRE-DEPLOYMENT EVALUATION OF U-TURNS IN EGYPT'S URBAN CORRIDORS - (PPT)

摘要

During the last decade, the number of U-turns used in urban areas in Egypt has increased to come up with the increasing traffic volumes and to improve traffic operations. The main purpose of using U-turns as alternative to direct left turns is to reduce the conflicts and improve safety along multilane roadways. Recently, several post-deployment negative impacts have surfaced, mainly; excessive delays, and increased accident rates.
