Development of design aid for non-rectangular reinforced concrete column-C shape

摘要

On day to day basis a structural designer comes across design of Non-Rectangular Reinforced Concrete (RC) column. Commonly the design of Non-Rectangular RC column except the circular section dealt with considering equivalent rectangular section due to limitation of codal stipulation IS 456:2000. A need has been realised to develop design aids for Non-Rectangular RC column which involve iterative & tedious design calculations. This paper aims to design Non-Rectangular RC short/slender column-C Shape, from first principle for axial load and biaxial bending moment. Apart from this computer module is developed in Visual studio 2012 for quick calculation, validation of Axial-Flexure (P-M) interaction diagram of developed computer program is carried out by comparing it with well-established computer program SAP 2000.
