A UWB on-body antenna and propagation (AP) channel model is presented through its realistic measurements in an office room, along with its system performance evaluated. To this end, on-body channel transfer function (CTF) is firstly investigated by measuring two compact on-body antennas electromagnetic (EM) coupled data, with which both its parameters of pathloss (PL) and power delay profile (PDP) are extracted. Secondly, two kinds of UWB on-body communication system performance are studied, based on the derived AP channel model. Finally, some conclusions are given concerning the simulated results. It should be pointed out that the existing UWB on-body communication abilities should be greatly improved.
