An IR-UWB system based performance improvement method and an UWB receiver therefor are disclosed. Provided is the UWB receiver comprising: a communication unit for receiving an RF signal transmitted from a transmitter; a receiver for detecting the RF signal in multipath; a time hopping code generator for generating a time-hopped code in respective multiusers for the RF signal; a pulse distance calculator for calculating distance between the pulses of the RF signal using the time-hopped code; a weighted value calculator for calculating weighted values along the distance; and a determination unit for applying the calculated-weighted value to respective pulses for the RF signal. According to the embodiment of the present invention, the UWB system increases decoding efficiency by differently applying the weighted value for the distance between the previous pulse or the following pulse and the pulse received in a multiuser environment in which multipath fading is existed.
