The development of screw extruders (both single and twin screw) has experienced several milestones over the past century, giving rise to the wide and extensive application of screw extruder in many industries (polymer, food, etc.). The newly developed triple screw extruder began to receive attention owing to the versatility in its changeable screw axes adjustments, multiple intermeshing regions, multi-displacement of melt flow, lower ratio of length and diameter, higher output, and energy consumption ratios. In this article the geometry of the three screws inside the triple screw extruder was studied. The results show that our newly developed triple screw extruder gives great advantages in mixing and processing materials compared with twin and single screw extruders.
