A VIGNETTE STUDY EXAMINING THE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE AND INFORMATION PROVISION PREFERENCES

A vignette study was conducted to examine attitudes in a student population with respect to three different types of diagnostic procedure (blood test, imaging procedure and invasive procedure) and three different disease areas (coronary, gastroenterological and muscu-loskeletal). The study involved 72 participants and statistical analysis shows that invasive procedures were viewed more negatively. Participants also had high information needs in the pre- and post-diagnosis stages of information provision, and preferred traditional media for receiving results.
