A CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK FOR SOCIAL ENGINEERING: A CROSS CULTURAL PERSPECTIVE

This paper is an attempt to develop a conceptual model that explores factors that affect social engineering success. Additionally, it examines the moderating effect of Hofstede's cultural dimensions (uncertainty avoidance, individualism/collectivism, and power distance) on the relationship between predictor variables and the dependent variable. If we understand why people might be victimized by social engineering attacks, then we can minimize the success rate of such attack.
