Clearance between moving mass and cantilever beam guide is investigated by combining theoretical modeling and experimental research. Based on multibody dynamics theory and ADAMS software, dynamic model of the experimental system is established with consideration of assembly clearance between moving mass and cantilever beam. Dynamic clearance curve is obtained by numerical calculation. Experiment for measuring dynamic clearance is designed using high precise displacement sensor and temporal domain graphs of dynamic clearance are gained. Comparison and analysis between dynamic clearance curves indicate that contact parameters with clearance have critical influence on clearance varying. Some rules of dynamic clearance are discussed from temporal domain. Experiment lays the foundation for parameter identification of clearance model.
