Doctors often need to use several surgery instruments at the same time during Image Guided Surgery (IGS). However, it's hard for linear CCD based Optical Positioning System (OPS) to maintain both a high frequency and efficiency when tracking multiple targets which are often close to each other at the same time during IGS. This paper proposes a grouping algorithm and track prediction algorithm to match the markers and their corresponding linear CCD images. We finally design an efficient solution of multiple targets tracking for linear CCD based OPS applied to IGS, which proves to have a high recognition rate, accuracy and tracking frequency.
