Research on a Novel Piezoelectric Linear Motor Driven by Three Langevin Type Vibrators

A piezoelectric linear motor is proposed and designed. It employs the first order longitudinal vibration modes of the horizontal bar and vertical bars of the motor's H-shaped stator to drive the particles on the vertical bars moves in elliptical trajectory so as to push the slider moving. The principle of the motor is detailed. The driving cycle of the stator is detailed. The elliptical trajectory has been proved. A dynamical model used to determine the relationships be tween the working modes and the size of the stator is derived. A finite element analysis models being utlized to calculate the modal frequency and to optimize the sturcture size of the stator has been built with ANSYS software. The optim al structure of the motor is obtained. Three Langevin type vibrators using the d33 effect of piezoelectric ceramics have been designed for the stator, which are employed to excite the working modes of the horizontal bar and vertical bars relatively. It is concluded that the motor proposed in this paper is able to gener ate larger thrust, and it is of higher positioning accuracy.
