The publicly listed geothermal companies have raised equity of $1,807 billion since April 2004 in 83 transactions. Private geothermal companies have raised $861 million during the same time period in 32 transactions (Appendix A). The public return in the last three years has averaged a loss of (51)%. Should the geothermal project companies be public?
