Temperature and pH sensitive nanogels were prepared by "soapless", one-pot, emulsion polymerization using a biocompatible macromer, N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm) as the temperature sensitive material, and an amphiphilic weak acid monomer. We found that the crosslinker used had a strong impact on nanogel size. The transition temperature of the nanogels was properly adjusted for drug delivery applications and anionic charges were introduced in the nanogels to increase drug loading through ionic interactions.
