Silver is known to have a wide antibacterial spectrum and relatively high safety, but the prices of silver are so high that it is difficult to popularize them. In this paper, the Ag+ and Zn2+ are together used as antibacterial ions to economize the cost. The Al2O3 antibacterial agent carrying Ag+ and Zn2+ was prepared by ion adsorption method. Ag+ content, Zn2+ content and sintering temperature were discussed in the paper, and the structures were characterized by SEM. The results show that the composite material has good antibacterial property. The better quantity of Ag+ is 4%, the suitable Zn2+ content is 3% and the better sintering temperature range is 600°C-1100°C. The reasons for good antibacterial activities are that silver and zinc ions can enter the framework of Al2O3 powder through ion adsorption and are released slowly owing to its porosity.
