Wollastonite and dicalcium silicate coatings deposited onto the Ti-6Al-4V substrate by plasma spraying technology were soaked in simulated body fluid to investigate their bioactivity. Scanning electron microscopy, thin-film XRD and infrared (IR) spectroscopy were used to observe the morphologies and analyze surface structural changes of the coatings, respectively. Carbonate-containing hydroxyapatite (CHA) layer can form on the surface of the wollastonite and dicalcium silicate coatings immersed in SBF solution, indicating the two coatings possess excellent bioactivity. Fetal rats' osteoblasts were seeded on the surface of wollastonite and dicalcium silicate coatings to examine their biocompatibility. Osteoblast is able to survive and proliferate on the surface of the wollastonite and dicalcium silicate coatings.
