A new and robust method of kinetic analysis of constant heating rate (nonisothermal) reaction rate data is derived and verified by analysis and experiment. The new isokinetic method is analogous to Kissinger's method in that it is based on a characteristic temperature of nonisothermal analysis, and is similar to the Flynn-Wall-Ozawa (FWO) method in having an isoconversion basis. However, unlike these differential and integral methods, the isokinetic method is independent of the form of the rate constant and reaction model, and therefore provides an unambiguous activation energy and frequency factor for a single step reaction for use in model-fitting and lifetime prediction.
