AN ANALYTIC APPROACH TO PHARMACEUTICAL SUPPLY CHAIN RISK MANAGEMENT

The growth of disruption risks in modern supply chains has called for a systematic approach torisk management which has become a top priority in many organizations. This research paperutilizes a multi-criteria decision making methodology to model risk management in apharmaceutical company supply chain. Results suggest that supply chain executives attach greatimportance to the following risks in that order of importance: regulation/legislation, operational,reputation, financial, market, and relationship risks. Risk reduction and risk avoidance emergedas the best risk management strategies. The multi-criteria decision making methodology provesto be effective in choosing risk management strategies and in a step-by-step approach toidentifying, assessing, and managing portfolio of supply chain risks.
