Characterized by the complicated structure,the thinness and its variability of the wall and low rigidity,the thin-walled work pieces are liable to distortion during the machining process,making it difficult to guarantee their integrated error precision.This paper aims at developing efficient strategies for controlling process deformation of thin-walled structures.Using the finite element method,through modeling and simulation to analyze and control effectively their machining distortion.Emphasis is put on how to select the location of the fixture,tool path and process parameters.Mechanistic model for cutting force estimation,finite element method for fixture scheme and finite element method for structures deflection estimation are used in this paper.Besides,the optimal design approach for controlling of deformation is proposed,in which minimal machining deformation is design objective,fixture scheme,tool path and process parameters are respectively design variables.
