Rotor is a key component of the electrostatic suspended gyroscope. The rotor's non-sphericity during operation is the major reason why the electrostatic field disturbing torque occurs. The non-sphericity of the rotor is mainly caused by the centrifugal deformation. In order to compensate non-spherical error caused by the centrifugal deformation of rotor, the hollow spherical rotor is made into prolate hollow spheroid. The prolate spheroid rotor becomes the approximating sphere by the centrifugal force till the rotor revolves at the rated speed.Using ANSYS software to analyze the coupled deformation caused by the pressure, centrifugal force and the temperature while the rotation speed is at 24000rpm,it is found that the polar diameter of the hollow spherical beryllium rotor is 1.22μm longer than the equatorial diameter.A technique for lapping rotor inside the pressure vessel is presented under such circumstances. The rotor is made into circular sphere using the lapping machine under the pressure 0.25 Mpa inside the pressure vessel, and it becomes a prolate spheroid under the normal pressure. The experimental result shows that the polar diameter is 1.1 μm longer than the equatorial diameter, which is coincident with the finite element analysis result.
