New highly dispersive carrier-free dry powder formulations with amorphous coatingfor inhalation

Tobramycin was spray dried at differenttemperatures from different water to isopropanol feedratios (0:100–20:80) in order to obtain dry powderformulations for inhalation. The results show that thepresence of water markedly enhanced the fine particlefraction (FPF), which was about 37% for the rawtobramycin and about 57% for a powder obtainedfrom a suspension containing 2% (v/v) water.
