Controlled Release Formulation of Sintered Wax Matrix Tablets For Ketorolac Tromethamine:Effect of Processing Methods And Sintering

Controlled release matrix tablets for Ketorolactromethamine, water soluble drug, were formulated usingCompritol 888 ATO as rate controlling hydrophobic wax.The matrices were prepared by various methods I.e. Directcompression/ dry blending, spray drying, partial meltgranulation and melt granulation. The effect of sinteringwas studied and was compared with control unsinteredtablets. The various evaluation parameters includedpercentage in-vitro drug dissolution profile, wettability(contact angle measurement), surface properties (SEM),DSC and FTIR studies. Sintering was found tosignificantly impact the drug release profile thus makingit useful tool to achieve the desired drug release.
