We report the preparation of high-performance lead-and phthalate-free PVC formulations for wire and cable applications. We describe the replacement of diisodecyl phthalate by epoxidized linseed oil and lead stabilizer by various non-lead stabilizers, and the effects of nanoclay addition. Replacement of DIDP by ELO increases stiffness, strength and degradation onset temperature (T_(onset))- Addition of nanoclay reduces ductility and thermal stability but enhances hardness and stiffness and improves fire properties (higher LOI, lower PHRR).
