The properties of CNTs such as chemical and mechanical stabilities can grant novel properties in polymer composites systems. Moreover, functionalization of CNTs can induce improved properties of composite system. The strongest electronegativity of F atom leads to strong bonding between fluorine and other elements. These functional groups can become a cross-linking site with polymer. Oxyfluorinated MWCNT/epoxy composite was prepared by photo-polymerization using electron beam. Diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A (DGEBA) was used as epoxy resin. The multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) was fluorinated to improve dispersibility and adhesiveness with epoxy resins in composite system. The thermo-mechanical property of MWCNTs/epoxy composite was measured at elevated temperatures. In order to investigate the functional groups of MWCNTs induced by oxyfluorination, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was also used.
