In PU- Industries there are several methods of dosing Polyols, Isocyanates, Blowing Agents or Catalysts and Additives. Each method provides advantages and disadvantages. As the dosing method affects product quality, costs and output of the plant significantly, it is quite important for production managers to evaluate several aspects very meticulously to ensure to carry out the right decision according to the internal and external requirements. This paper focuses on the gravimetric dosing method, dosing with mass flow meter and volumetric dosing by metering pump as the most common procedures. Target of this document is to point out the benefits and risks for each method and to provide a rough overview for responsible decision makers which can be helpful for selecting the best solution.
