Traditional field testing of a bridge is usually done only according to an equivalence principle of a single internal action like bending moment in the middle-span section, which ignores 3-D loading effects and the comprehensive influence of the bending moment, the shearing force and the twist moment. This paper builds the computation model of a completed bridge by finite element software ANSYS to analyze the most unfavorable loading effect comprehensively produced by the bending moment, the shearing force and the twist moment under the design load. The method of the comprehensive equivalent loading is introduced. The field test proved that the method proposed in the paper could evaluate the actual bearing capacity of a bridge structure more effectively.
