Layered drug pellets were either coated with aqueous polymer dispersions or with alcoholic polymer solution and compared regarding achievable release profiles, release mechanisms and storage stability. Flexible extended release profiles were obtained with all coating systems, however, only organic solvent-based coating resulted in stable release profiles under accelerated storage conditions.
