We have demonstrated previously that rhbFGF is stabilized in pH-modified PLGA controlled-release implants. These implants were examined in an ischemic hindlimb SCID mouse model. Reperfusion and functional recovery of ischemic hindlimbs was observed after implantation of stabilized encapsulated rhbFQF, but not in partially stabilized, unstabilized, and blank control groups.
