This paper presents aa method to reduce the number of warnings in situations where two or more warnings at the same time can occur. The results of an experiment with 36 test persons using aa driving-simulator are also presented. In that experiment two ways to display warnings have been compared: I) aa standard warning method, which directly displayed warnings to the driver and ii) aa method, which is based on coordinated warnings and is emitting aa smaller number of warnings in the same driving situation. Resu Results lts show that warning-coordination reduces the number of collisions and improves driver driver's reaction time in such aa way that aa driver reacts 114 ms earlier (in the average) than by using standard warnings. As an outcome of coordinated warnings the test driv drivers ers showed aa tendency to drive more carefully. The experiment also shows that drivers prefer the method of warning-coordination over the conventional method to display warnings.
