Based on analyses to the characteristics of SMB's technology innovation, and according to the interactions between the core competitiveness and technology innovation of SMB, the paper brings out a unique perspective on the core competitiveness of SMB to choose the technology innovation strategy. According to the core competitiveness of SMB in its different life cycle, including start-up period, rapid growing period, maturing period, and a period of recession, the paper puts forward the suggests about how to select independent innovation strategy, cooperation innovation strategy and imitate innovation strategy.
