Using VEGF for Targeting Doxorubicin-loaded Liposomes to Tumor Vasculature

We have constructed doxorubicin-loadedliposomes decorated with vascular endothelialgrowth factor (VEGF) for targeted destruction oftumor vasculature. VEGF-decorated liposomesretain VEGF functional activity in tissue cultureassays and are at least 10 to 100-fold more cytotoxicfor VEGR-2 overexpressing cells than untargetedliposomes.
