This study intends to characterize the immunity of implantable cardioverters-defibrillators to very low frequencies electromagnetic perturbations. For that, we have set up an in-vitro evaluation protocol of the susceptibility of defibrillators to electromagnetic led-disturbances. The tested device is placed in a phantom containing gelatine to which the electromagnetic properties are close to those of human biological tissues, and we apply a configurable lure cardiac signal in order to be close to real conditions of implantation. We thus have made evident frequencies and voltage levels of led disturbing signals which mislead the defibrillator. The results obtained show that the susceptibility of the defibrillator tested increases with the voltage level of the disturbing signal and decreases with the frequency. It comes out from this report that the particulary 50 Hz frequency is very disturbing and that there exists a real EMF exposure risk for active medical implanted patients.
