Device for measuring geometric characteristics, e.g. dimensions or surface properties, of a hollow space (2) that is delimited by an electrically conducting surface (3), whereby the surface is coupled via a waveguide arrangement (12), such as a coaxial cable or a hollow conductor, to a source (14) of high frequency electromagnetic waves. An independent claim is made for a method for measuring geometric characteristics using HF electromagnetic waves.
