It always amazes me how opportunities find their way to people. You hear about “career paths,” but my experience has been that careers are built from opportunities, not by trying to select a particular career path. My career began in human resources, but it took a turn to purchasing/ materials management in 1990 when my boss at the time thought I could handle different responsibilities. It seems like every three to four years, my responsibilities change due to new opportunities. Opportunity knocked again in January of 2004.
