This paper presents a case study for floating a 9-5/8" linerusing a novel approach and its implication to the on-goingRinghorne platform development program. The paperdescribes the planning, testing and execution of the linerfloatation job performed in a record-setting Ringhorne well. Astandard and field proven 9-5/8" liner hanger system wasmodified, tested, and used as the mud-over-air isolationdevice. This system was used to run a 4560 m long 9-5/8"liner to a depth of 5961 m with 6-5/8" drill pipe as thelanding string.
