Return to the Basics: Economical Steel Bridge Design

摘要

Bridge design combines both art and science. As computer-related tools have improved, some of the art of bridge design has been buried under a sea of numbers. This paper will challenge bridge engineers to re-focus on important basic decisions and to reconsider the current applicability of some common rules of thumb.
