Welcome to Salt Lake City and SIGITE2004! This is our 5th conference as a professional society and our second as SIGITE. We have experienced much growth and accomplished a great deal in our short history. We have developed accreditation standards for Information Technology (IT) that are currently in the approval process by ABET and we are nearing completion of a proposed model curriculum for IT. >Whether you are new or returning I encourage you to introduce yourself to new faces and the SIGITE board members and share with us your ideas for, and needs from, our society. We hope all who attend this conference will share and benefit from the sessions, activities, and many informal contacts which build the IT educational community and the profession as a whole. We benefit as a community from the collective effort of those who share their understanding, insights, and efforts to build IT and our society. >Our mission as a society is to focus on the educational and technical issues ofInformation Technology and provide opportunity for professional growth.
