A pedagogical experiment was conducted using a daily journal for developing and advancing written communications skills of accounting majors in the introductory auditing course. Students wrote goals for the term. Weekly and monthly summaries with performance assessment were required. Daily entries and summaries were required in audit working paper format. One-third of the students showed significant improvement of their writing skills. Another one-third showed some improvement.
