A Java Meta-Level Architecture for the Dynamic Handling of Aspects

This paper presents DJ-Aspects, a reflective meta-level system implemented in Java that supports aspect-oriented programming. The aspects are meta-objects, while the functional components reside at the base level. An aspect-manager residing at the meta-level handles the composition and interaction of components with aspects at run-time. The system is implemented in Java, permitting the incorporation of aspects without requiring an extended Java virtual machine.
